Many of them were removed from the library of episodes following the Spotify transfer in 2020, but many others started to be removed in early 2022, in response to an effort to remove the entire podcast from Spotify itself due to alleged coronavirus misinformation being propagated in the show, spearheaded by folk singer Neil Young. However, despite this, several episodes of the show, many of which were controversial, either because of the guest or specific involved, or a case of both, of which are inaccessible through Spotify. The pop culture site WhatCulture described the podcast as a "legitimate titan of alternative media", due to the variety of viewpoints and guests that regularly appear on his shows. The podcast is very popular across the world, racking up an average listenership of 11 million listeners per episode, all the while the name itself of the show is ubiquitous with popular podcasts. The Joe Rogan Experience is a popular podcast hosted by Ultimate Fighting Championship color commentator, comedian, actor, and former television presenter Joe Rogan, of which began on YouTube in 2009, before becoming an exclusive to the streaming service Spotify in 2020, as part of a $100 million deal between them and Rogan.
